My name is Amy Abbott and I have been teaching elementary music since 1998, and started working in the St. Vrain Valley School district in 2001. I received my undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Colorado at Boulder and my masters in music education with a Kodály emphasis from Colorado State University. I have Kodály certifications from Portland State University and from Colorado State University.
I am passionate about teaching elementary music and the role the arts play in a child’s education. I love to learn and the students at Red Hawk inspire and teach me new things on a daily basis. In addition to teaching general music, handbells, choir and musical theater at Red Hawk, I also teach level 2 Kodály at Colorado State University in the summer and present sessions on elementary music at workshops and clinics throughout the school year.
When not teaching I love spending time with my husband and children, gardening and exercising. I’m very excited and proud that my children both attend Red Hawk, it’s a wonderful place to work and learn!
