Mary Dwyer

I love to read, garden, hike, camp, attend outdoor concerts, and go trail riding in the mountains with my husband, on our two horses, Peaches and Candy. I married my husband Don in 1980 and have raised two amazing children who are now both married, and living their lives happily in Montana.

I decided to pursue an education degree after becoming certified as a Montessori teacher and developing my own pre-school in Bigfork, MT. I graduated in 1993 from the University of Montana. That year, I was given a unique opportunity to begin my teaching career at an International School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia teaching 4th grade. After returning home, I was  fortunate enough to spend the next several years teaching 5th grade in Columbia Falls, Montana.  We moved to Colorado in 2000 due to a career change for my husband.  I came to St. Vrain Valley School District in 2001 where I taught four years at Loma Linda Elementary as a K-5th grade computer lab specialist and 3rd-5th grade Gifted & Talented teacher.  I also spent six years teaching 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies at Trail Ridge Middle School.

When I was hired as part of the design team for Red Hawk in 2011 I knew I was coming to a very special school. I have taught 5th grade for the past six years at Red Hawk and now I am coming full circle moving back to 4th grade this year. My experience at Red Hawk has been the highlight of my teaching career.
