We continue to closely monitor wildfire activity around our community in partnership with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and the Boulder Office of Emergency Management. Firefighters have done an outstanding job closing the spread of the Cal-Wood and Lefthand Canyon Fires, and we are incredibly appreciative of their hard work and dedication to protecting our communities. We must remain vigilant and prepared for any changes to the fire’s activity, particularly with high winds forecasted for this afternoon through Thursday morning. Out of an abundance of caution, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has requested that we extend our closure of in-person learning at school in Lyons through the end of this week.
Beginning Monday, October 5, we will be implementing a hybrid in-person learning schedule for all students who are not currently enrolled in the LaunchED program. Click here to learn more. Comenzando el lunes 5 de octubre, estaremos implementando un programa de aprendizaje híbrido en persona para todos los estudiantes que no estén inscritos actualmente en el programa LaunchED. I am thrilled to be a part of the Red Hawk community! I have a passion for teaching children and have spent the last eighteen years in the classroom.
I was born and raised in Colorado and currently live in Erie, Colorado. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2000 and moved to Longmont to begin my teaching career. Over the last eighteen years, I have taught 1st Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th grade, and 5th Grade. Don’t tell anyone, but 5th grade is my favorite for sure!!!
I have six amazing kids; Adrian (UNC), Evan (EHS), Delaney (EHS), Amryn (EMS), Emersyn (EMS), and Knox (EMS)! Outside of the classroom, my family can usually be found swimming, fishing, drawing, playing basketball, golfing, playing games, doing homework, and hanging out together. I have learned that busy children are happy children, so needless to say, we keep very busy. When I get a moment of time to call my own, I enjoy watching movies, going on adventures with Tom, looking for llamas, hanging out with friends, and searching for new and fun ways to challenge my students. I am eagerly awaiting a wonderful year of learning, exploring, and achieving great things.
