Bio
I strive to make the learning environment warm, challenging, and fun. Kindergarten is such an exciting year full of growth, wonder, and strides towards independence. I’m thrilled to be a part of the Red Hawk family. I grew up in Southern California. My family traded in boogie boards for snowboards when we moved to Pagosa Springs in 1996. I graduated from Colorado State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I completed my Teaching License program and graduate course work at the University of Colorado at Denver where I earned a Master's in Literacy with a Reading Teacher Endorsement. I taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grades for 12 years at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary School in Adams 12 Five Star Schools. I joined the Red Hawk family in 2019. I have been blessed to travel for 2 weeks during the summer for five years to Uganda with a team of teachers to elevate and grow alongside a group of teachers at Musana Primary School. In addition to working with children here and around the world, I spend my time climbing mountains (I’ve climbed more than 30 of Colorado’s 14ers and have backpacked the Colorado Trail), snowboarding, wakeboarding, thrifting, crafting, watching soccer and football. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my amazing husband, Bryon, and our beloved black Labrador, Dempsey. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year at Red Hawk Elementary!
