3rd-5th Grade CMAS Information

Dear Red Hawk Families,

Thank you for your continued partnership in advancing our students’ academic growth and achievement. April is the window for the administration of the Colorado Measure of Academic Success (CMAS).  St. Vrain Valley Schools utilizes assessment data and additional data sources to identify ways to increase student achievement. The goal is to provide rich learning opportunities that engage students and prepare them for success in the 21st century. Data collected from these state-mandated exams contribute to St. Vrain Valley Schools’ comprehensive suite of tools and programs designed to enhance student achievement, promote diversified and individualized learning opportunities, identify areas of need to support early intervention, and provide valuable data that helps inform future curriculum and instructional development.

This year the assessment window differs by grade.

3rd Grade: Tuesday, April 8th through Tuesday, April 15th 9:20-11:45

4th Grade: Tuesday, April 8th through Wednesday, April 16th 9:20-11:45

5th Grade: Tuesday, April 8th through Friday, April 18th 9:20-11:45

Our goal is for all students to be at school during this assessment window.  Please try not to schedule appointments or vacations during this time.

Some Tips for Parents:

*Make sure your child gets lots of sleep on testing days.

*It’s best to have a hearty breakfast to get them ready for the day.

*Talk to your child about taking their time and doing their best on the assessments.

If you have any questions about how to support your student’s success during these state assessments or have concerns about your child’s participation, please feel free to contact me directly at 303-774-2700 and/or email me at neher_shelley@svvsd.org.

Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support, and thank you for choosing to be Red Hawks!

Sincerely,

Shelley Neher

Assistant Principal
