A MESSAGE FROM MR. GARCIA
Hello, Red Hawk family, and happy Friday!
What a wonderful week of school at Red Hawk! I have had the opportunity to be in our classrooms, and I am extremely happy with how well our students are applying themselves to their learning under the leadership of our outstanding teachers and staff! Students are happy and excited to be in school and our staff continues to build a positive and engaging school culture and daily climate!
I want to thank those of you who have had the ability to donate to our jog-a-thon! This important event is utilized to provide additional funding that will directly impact student learning and achievement! As you all know, the elementary school experience is one of great importance as we are laying a rock solid foundation that will allow all of our students to continue to learn, grow, achieve, and succeed well beyond their elementary years. As I said previously, there is nothing that makes me more proud as the school leader than to see how hard our students are working while having fun and a positive attitude at the same time! Our students not only work hard and have fun, but they are high quality young people who care about one another and having a positive influence on our school.
To close, I want to thank our PTO Board and the volunteers who have been supporting our jog-a-thon and our beginning of year events and activities! While we are blessed with an outstanding school system that provides all of our schools and our students what we need to succeed, the support from our PTO and families helps us to go above and beyond and provide our students a strong competitive advantage at Red Hawk Elementary School! I also want to thank those of you who provide individual donations directly to the school! From the smallest of donations to the largest of donations, each and every donation is meaningful and appreciated! Thank you!
Have a wonderful weekend and always remember that every day is a great day to be a Red Hawk!
With appreciation,
Mr. Garcia

Gifted and Talented
Gifted and Talented Referrals
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Today I will be safe * Today I will be respectful * Today I will be responsible * I will make today a great day, because that’s the Red Hawk Way
Hug-N-Go: I want to thank everyone who is following The Red Hawk Way in all we do on campus! Being safe, respectful, responsible and walking with integrity is who we are and what we do every day at Red Hawk! It is important that our students see all of US doing the same thing! With Hug-N-Go, please continue to meet our expectations in setting a great example for all of our kids! As a gentle reminder, Hug-N-Go will requires patience. If you are in a hurry, Hug-N-Go is not for you that particular day! Some other reminders are to remain in the single file line of cars from the time you drive on campus until you exit campus. Please do not pass, drive around, overtake or in any way get out of the single file line. I also want to thank all of you for keeping our communication in the spirit of the Red Hawk Way! We love our positive, fun, friendly and inviting climate and culture at Red Hawk.
