A MESSAGE FROM MR. GARCIA

Tim Garcia

Hello Red Hawk family, and Happy Friday!

It is hard to believe that we are approaching our final week of school before Thanksgiving break. Our students and staff have been laser focused on specific goals for each student as we approach the break. I could not be more proud of our students and their work ethic leading into Thanksgiving and it will be important that students stay connected academically over the nine days that we are away.

A couple of ways that we can maintain our academic proficiency is to continue with practice lessons over the break. Students completing one lesson in reading and one lesson in writing each day will prove valuable over the break. Another way that we offer our students the opportunity to stay connected academically is our MyOn reading challenge! Our students have the MyON reading app on their iPads and have the ability to read their content over the break. We will celebrate the top reader in each class, the top reader in each grade level, and the top reader school wide! With our access to reading electronically, I would love to see all students engaging and reading  for a minimum of 20 minutes each day whether it is on the reading app or the old-fashioned method of picking up a book and giving it a go!

I want to ask you to be paying close attention to our calendars and our messaging that comes out from the school as we approach winter break. A couple of things that are happening right now include families volunteering to provide presents for some of our families in need. We are also going to have a holiday meal for our staff the Wednesday before we break for winter break. Miss Brandi will put out a sign-up sheet for that when we return from Thanksgiving break.

On Monday, we had our Veterans Day celebration here at Red Hawk. We had more than 30 veterans join us and I could not be more proud of our students and staff for their preparation and execution of an outstanding celebration! I received strong positive feedback from our veterans and how thankful they were for being recognized and how impressed they were by our students, staff and family alike here at Red Hawk! Many of them commented on how they could tell that Red Hawk is a special place to be. That feedback, and those type of compliments extend to each and every one of us and the Red Hawk family! We all have responsibilities to ensure that we maintain a school with high expectations and high accountability in a very kind, loving, caring, and supportive way! Nothing makes me happier than when people recognize the Red Hawk Way. Thank you to all of you! Semper Fidelis!

To close, I want to thank each and every one of you for choosing to be Red Hawks! We have provided several tours to families who are going to be open enrolling their students to Red Hawk Elementary School in the future. Almost all of them have been referred by someone they know in our family here at Red Hawk. While I know we are not perfect, I do know that we do what we do and how we do it for the right reasons, and we believe in the right way! I don’t think we will ever go wrong in answering the call to love, care for, serve, support, value, and protect kids, and one another as a Red Hawk family!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mr. Garcia
