My name is Jen Garcia and this is my first year at Red Hawk Elementary and I can tell it’s right where I am meant to be. I have been teaching in SVVSD since 2001. I have taught K-3 and even had the opportunity to teach a library class one year. However, Kindergarten is definitely where my heart is!!! The amount of knowledge they pick up in one year ALWAYS amazes me.    I am a Colorado native and grew up between Buena Vista, Canon City and Glenwood Springs. I attended Fort Lewis College and then University of Northern Colorado to receive my masters in Reading K-12. I have now lived in Frederick, CO for 20 years and love our tight knit community. Living there, allows us to be surrounded by many extended family members.    When I am not teaching I spend my time reading, paddle boarding, walking, hiking, gardening, volunteering,  playing board games and going to concerts. I also spend time with my husband of 21 years and my two children Payton (22) and Marcus (18). We also love spending time with our extended families in and outside of town.    I am so happy to be a part of this new community. If I don’t know you, I look forward to our paths crossing in the near future.
