Innovation Center Summer Camp Spaces Available for June and July

There are still some spaces available for various Innovation Center camps in June and July. From innovation and design to robotics and filmmaking, these camps offer a wide range of activities catered to different age groups. The cost of camps ranges from $125-225, and there is financial assistance available for qualifying families. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to provide your child with a fun and enriching summer adventure.

The following camps are still accepting registrations:

June Camps:

Innovation Academy (grades 1-3): Delve into the world of innovation and creativity in this immersive camp that focuses on Design Thinking. Engage in hands-on activities and develop problem-solving skills. The camp culminates in an exhibition of learning celebration.

Innovate by Design (grades 3-5): Unleash your creativity, problem-solving skills, and passion for making a difference by joining this summer camp where you’ll use Design Thinking to tackle real-world problems, brainstorm solutions, build prototypes, and showcase your best ideas.

Mini Shark Tank (grades 6-8): Ignite your entrepreneurial spirit at this summer camp, where you’ll transform your ideas into reality through problem-solving, customer understanding, unique brainstorming, business planning, prototyping, all culminating in a Mini Shark Tank pitch event.

Socially Assistive Robotics (grades 6-8): Discover the untapped potential of social robots with Misty II. Students can unleash their creativity and explore the diverse applications of robotics, including movement, speech, vision recognition, and more, while gaining valuable skills without the need for prior coding experience.

Studio Film Lab (grades 9-12): High school students dive into the art and craft of filmmaking, learning the essentials of cinematography, lighting, sound, editing, and storytelling to create their own short films, culminating in a special screening and invaluable feedback from industry professionals.


June Camps and Classes:

Summer High School Classes (grades 9-12; must be a SVVSD student):

Enhance your high school experience with specialized summer classes:

  • Apple Certified Mac & iOS Technician: This course is designed for students who have experience with Apple computers, offering the same curriculum used to train Geniuses in Apple Stores. Students who succeed in this class will be able to take certification exams assessing their knowledge of the following devices: MacBook Air, iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and more. Students passing these official Apple certifications will be eligible to apply to work on the Innovation Center Tech Team.
  • Intro to Augmented/Virtual Reality: This online course will guide students through drawing, sculpting, and graffiti mural making within the virtual world. Students will be issued a virtual reality headset to use at home during this course.

July Camps:

Advanced Cybersecurity (grades 9-12): For those with prior cybersecurity experience, this camp provides an opportunity to expand knowledge and skills. Participate in hands-on activities and tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges.

AWS Deep Racer Car (grades 9-12): Engage in the cutting-edge field of autonomous vehicle technology. Students will train their 1/18th scale race car to prepare to race in the virtual world by training the models in a 3D racing simulator. By the end of the week, students will test their skills by racing on a physical course. 

Career Quest (grades 6-8): Help your child discover their career interests and develop valuable skills through Career Quest. Ranging from filmmaking and production to programming and business, students can learn about many different career paths through interactive workshops, guest speakers, and mini competitions among their peers.

Composing Innovation (grades 6-12): This is an exciting summer program for students interested in exploring the intersection of music and technology. This innovative camp is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies and design thinking principles, while also introducing them to various aspects of the music industry, including musical performance, music business, and music careers.

AMD Bootcamp (grades 6-12): Students are introduced to the world of AI focusing on actual deployment and real-world utility of the ever-increasing power of Machine Learning and AI. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) is the host of this camp and supports student learning in a wide range of topics, such as using AMD technology to enable computer vision, as well as gathering real-world data using various sensors and feeding it into AI models.
