A MESSAGE FROM MR. GARCIA

Tim Garcia

Hello Red Hawk Family!

Every Day is a GREAT Day to be a Red Hawk!

Our students and staff did a great job in completing this, our first full week of school!  I am very impressed with our teachers and support staff in how well they are leading our students through the day at school and our kids are adjusting well to the longer and consecutive days.  The cooler weather helps and everyone seems to be in very good spirits!  Then again, Red Hawk is quite possibly the 2nd happiest place on earth!

We are very proud of how hard our students worked on iReady!  This state mandated assessment provides our students and teachers valuable feedback in the form of an academic baseline for us to analyze as we adjust instruction to meet specific learning needs of each student.  With the completion of iReady we are off and running with academics to lead ALL of our students to high levels of learning!  We often tell our kids, “This is hard, but you can do it!” as we venture into the challenges of learning!  We want them to understand that learning can be hard, and can definitely be challenging!  We want to ensure that our instruction and learning objectives have the intentionality of building grit in our students!  We strive to uphold our St. Vrain Valley School System’s mantra of “Academic Excellence by Design!”  in all we do!

To close, we want to thank our outstanding PTO for their continued support in who we are, what we do, and how we do it at Red Hawk Elementary!  We also want to give all of our parents, guardians, and families a heartfelt, “Thank you!” for entrusting the care of your child(ren) to us!  We are always aware of and grateful for the extraordinary responsibility that we have been given and we are passionate about meeting the high expectations that each of you have for us!

Every Day is Truly a GREAT Day to be a Red Hawk!

Enjoy the extended weekend!

With appreciation,

Mr. Garcia

SVVSD Code of Conduct

Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.

To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.

Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Tim Garcia

Gifted and Talented

Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress.  In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Today I will be safe * Today I will be respectful * Today I will be responsible * I will make today a great day, because that’s the Red Hawk Way

Hug-N-Go: I want to thank everyone who is following The Red Hawk Way in all we do on campus! Being safe, respectful, responsible and walking with integrity is who we are and what we do every day at Red Hawk! It is important that our students see all of US doing the same thing! With Hug-N-Go, please continue to meet our expectations in setting a great example for all of our kids! As a gentle reminder, Hug-N-Go will requires patience. If you are in a hurry, Hug-N-Go is not for you that particular day! Some other reminders are to remain in the single file line of cars from the time you drive on campus until you exit campus. Please do not pass, drive around, overtake or in any way get out of the single file line. I also want to thank all of you for keeping our communication in the spirit of the Red Hawk Way! We love our positive, fun, friendly and inviting climate and culture at Red Hawk.
