A MESSAGE FROM MR. GARCIA
Hello, Red Hawk Family!
It has been another successful week of school here at Red Hawk Elementary, but this week had a twist to it! As you know, we have been focusing on our Jog-A-Thon and I want to thank everyone for your support in once again providing us funding to have Ms. Nicole serving and supporting our students and school as our PTO paraprofessional! We have not met our goal, YET! But we still have a few more days to make that happen! Thank you!
I want to thank our PTO and our Specials Team for the excellent organization, planning, and execution of our Jog-A-Thon event! I also want to thank our PTO, teachers and staff for the Spirit Week this week as well as the handing out of prizes throughout the week in supporting our students for their effort in supporting this cause. We are currently sitting short of our goal, but if every family generates approximately $75 over the next few days, we will get there! This is a great time to reach out to friends, family, social media, etc. as we push into the final stretch of our Jog-A-Thon! Thank you!
As all of you (hopefully) know by now, Parent/Teacher Conferences are next Tuesday the 1st, Thursday the 3rd and then Wednesday the 9th! This is an exciting time for teachers to celebrate with our families the wonderful achievements taking place in our classrooms! Conferences are scheduled for 15 minutes and teachers are required to stay on schedule. If you have a specific topic that you want to discuss with your student’s teacher(s), please reach out and schedule a separate meeting with them. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Dogs on Campus: While most people enjoy seeing our fluffy friends on campus in the mornings and after school, we are limiting dogs to the sidewalks and walking path around the school. I know that this will cause some of us hurt feelings, but this is a system wide initiative for all St. Vrain Valley Schools, not just Red Hawk and out of an abundance of caution in wanting to do our best to avoid any negative interaction, be them physical or emotional. If you would like to talk with me about this, please let me know. Thank you for understanding.
To close, we are down to 9 days of school prior to fall break! Take a few minutes over the weekend to set some goals with your student(s) around academics. We will be planning with students for continued practice and learning over fall break and will be sending all iPads home during that time. There will be more to come over the next two weeks.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
With appreciation,
Mr. Garcia

Gifted and Talented
Gifted and Talented Referrals
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Today I will be safe * Today I will be respectful * Today I will be responsible * I will make today a great day, because that’s the Red Hawk Way
Hug-N-Go: I want to thank everyone who is following The Red Hawk Way in all we do on campus! Being safe, respectful, responsible and walking with integrity is who we are and what we do every day at Red Hawk! It is important that our students see all of US doing the same thing! With Hug-N-Go, please continue to meet our expectations in setting a great example for all of our kids! As a gentle reminder, Hug-N-Go will requires patience. If you are in a hurry, Hug-N-Go is not for you that particular day! Some other reminders are to remain in the single file line of cars from the time you drive on campus until you exit campus. Please do not pass, drive around, overtake or in any way get out of the single file line. I also want to thank all of you for keeping our communication in the spirit of the Red Hawk Way! We love our positive, fun, friendly and inviting climate and culture at Red Hawk.
